Mr Derek Robinson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at the Royal United Hospital, Bath and Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases following his appointment in 2005. He limits his elective practice exclusively to dealing with foot and ankle problems.
Mr Robinson is passionate about achieving the best possible outcome for all of his patients.
He lives just outside Bath with his wife, 3 dogs, 2 goats, and 11 pet sheep.
Whilst he has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of the whole spectrum of foot and ankle conditions he has particular interest in arthroscopy, forefoot surgery, ankle arthritis, sports injuries and complex trauma.
Due to his highly specialist field of interest he is often sent patients with complex problems for a second opinion.
Mr Robinson qualified from Manchester University Medical School in 1993 and after initial surgical training in Nottingham he undertook Orthopaedic training in Bristol and Vancouver.
He was awarded the European Travelling Fellowship in Foot and Ankle surgery and has trained under leading surgeons throughout the UK, Europe and North America.
Mr Tristan Barton is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Foundation Trust. He specialises in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery and has a specialist interest in Sports Injuries. Mr Barton has a strong interest in medical education, and is involved in the training of junior Orthopaedic surgeons in Bath. He has published numerous papers in the medical literature, and regularly teaches on courses for trainees in Foot and Ankle surgery.
Outside of work, Mr Barton is married to a local GP and has three sons. He is a keen tennis player, and spends his weekends in muddy fields coaching and refereeing his sons' football and rugby teams
Mr Barton specialises in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery including complex hindfoot reconstruction, arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, and forefoot reconstruction including bunion surgery. Many of these procedures can now be performed utilising arthroscopic techniques to minimise the risk of wound complications. Mr Barton also performs surgery on complex traumatic foot and ankle injuries at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Mr Barton qualified from Birmingham University Medical School in 1999 and completed his specialist Orthopaedic training in the Bristol and Bath region. Following completion of his formal training, he undertook advanced Fellowship training in Baltimore, Sydney, and Bristol. During this time, he had the opportunity to work with and learn from internationally renowned Foot and Ankle and Knee Surgeons around the world. Mr Barton has also completed a Masters in Trauma Surgery.
Tom is a Podiatrist who runs and owns the Podiatry and manufacturing company ACE Feet in Motion. Within ACE Feet in Motion Tom specialises in gait analysis and the treatment of lower limb musculoskeletal conditions. ACE is currently the official supplier of Podiatry services to the Welsh Rugby Union, Welsh Athletics, Cardiff City FC and Welsh Netball.
Outside of work, Tom likes to spend time with his 3 kids, wife and dog and does the occasional half marathon.
